Balance

This one word says it all. In life all we really need is balance and quite frankly a lot of us are reaching a point when we cannot balance it all. This breaking point is alerting us that we need to change something in our life. I know it is unlikely to always wake up full of energy and joy and ready to take on the day with zest and enthusiasm. However, we should be having more days than not experiencing happiness in what we are doing with our lives. If you are feeling like you need more me time, you need to listen to that calling and make that time. It is so important to slow down and take the time for rest. Now I don't mean sitting on the couch all night stuffing your face with bad food and watching negative violent TV shows or going out and getting so drunk that the next day you are feeling sick. I mean more like taking the time to get out into nature or read an uplifting book. Maybe meet a friend for dinner and have a glass of wine to catch up on all your exciting plans for this year. I feel like so many of us think that going out to party is a way to have down time and it actually is not. I don't even have to tell you why drinking too much is bad for your mind and body, not to mention it makes you do things you regret. People know this and I was one of them. I would just do it too as somehow we would just end up at a bar at the end of the week. However, I always got hangovers even if it was just a headache and I hated how I would feel the next day. It is so not worth it. I have learned to enjoy an adult beverage from time to time, but I have also learned all the amazing and relaxing things I can do instead of drinking.

I believe balance is having yourself in a good place with your mental health, physical health, and spiritual health. I also believe we must connect with the Universe and our higher selves in order to get the help and guidance we need. The more we obsess over material things, gossiping, complaining, and thinking and saying negative things to ourselves and others, the more we are disconnected from that Source (God). It may seem like it is the norm because I see it and hear it everywhere, but if you can become aware of your surroundings and what you are hearing and seeing you will be able to make a shift to get out of that. It is not easy as it has become habit for most of us. It takes work to try everyday to become aware. I believe this is why so many of us are on antidepressants. Something has come out of balance in our lives and has caused us to feel angry, depressed, anxious, and unlike our normal selves. When you take medication to help you get through this, yet don't change anything in your life eventually it will come up another way to get your attention. I do believe there is a place for medication, but I have noticed that many people are running to the doctor for a quick fix because they are "not feeling good". I believe we need to ask ourselves why are we feeling this way? What in our lives could have contributed to this imbalance? Then from there try to make the needed changes. It is very hard to balance family, work, and marriage. We may need to reach out to others for support. It is okay to ask for help as we all will need help at some point in our lives. To to figure out what is not working in your life and get a plan to make the needed changes. In the meantime get therapy and do the work to get yourself back into balance. It takes time so be patient and document your progress so you can go back and see the healing that has been done.

I hope that makes sense as it took me quite awhile to understand how living the way I was living my life was causing my anxiety. I never did take medication as it was something that did not resonate with me, but I did search for other ways to understand the cause and how to overcome this. Anxiety can sometimes be good, but a lot of us type A personalities are more prone to anxiety as we are perfectionists and that sometimes gets overwhelming and can knock us out of balance.

My hope is that we can get the word out there that no one is ever alone if they have reached a point that makes them feel out of balance. There is so much help out there. If you or someone you know is feeling off and just not themselves, I would like to offer some suggestions. First, know that you will be okay and you WILL get through this!! This too shall pass. You are not alone. We ALL go through something at one point or another in our lives. Secondly, I would suggest finding a good therapist who specializes in what you are going through (stress, overwhelm, anxiety, depression, loss, etc). Next, I would get your hands on some fabulous books. I have some favorites I will suggest at the end of this post. Reach out to others in groups that may have experienced what you have for support, but be careful as their negative stories might make you feel worse so try to join a positive group with healing and recovery stories. Also, start getting up in the morning and looking in the mirror and telling yourself how awesome and strong and beautiful you are. Start telling yourself it is okay and that you love you. It may sound weird, but it is actually very healing. Next, journal how you feel and let it all out. Also, do a dream and gratitude journal as well. This will help to raise your vibrations to a higher and more positive level....AND please stop forcing yourself to workout at 4am if you don't want to. Do a fun exercise that you enjoy at a time that works for you. No one should force themselves to workout super early in the morning when they dread it. Just because it works for someone else does not mean it works for you. Get to really know yourself. Make a list of things that you love, things that touch your soul and try to do more of these things. Simply your life. I know one of the biggest stressors in life is financial strain. I will be discussing this more in a future post, keep an eye out for that one, but if you feel like stress is mainly from your finances please go to www.daveramsey.com and purchase his DVD set for Financial Peace University. If you can't afford the DVD's you can also rent them from the library. Last but not least, please consider meditation. It is not as crazy and hard as you may think. Start with 10 minutes in the morning. Take deep breathes and become aware of your breathing feeling cool coming in and feeling warm going out. This is very basic, but it's a great start and you want your breaths to go deep into your belly. You should not see your chest rising much. I hope some of if not all of this information is helpful to you. I hope you all have a beautiful day.

Here are some amazing books that have changed my life;

You Can Heal Your Life by Louise Hay, A New Earth by Eckhart Tolle, The Untethered Soul by Michael Singer, Letting Go by David Hawkins, What's in the Way is the Way by Mary O'Malley and most recently I am enjoying The Universe Has Your Back by Gaby Bernstein. Happy Reading !! :)
